Patterson, declare as follows: 1. I am an attorney at the law firm of Cooper & Kirk, PLLC, and I am one of the attorneys for Appellants Dennis Hollingsworth, Gail J. Knight, Martin F. Gutierrez, Mark A. Jansson, and ProtectMarriage.com. I make this declaration in support of Appellants' Motion to Exceed Page Limitations for their Emergency Motion for Stay Pending Appeal. I have personal knowledge of the facts set forth herein. 2. Appellants request an expanded page limit of 75 pages. This request is amply justified by the district court's 136-page ruling supporting the judgment Appellants seek to stay. See Doc. No. 708. That judgment enjoins enforcement of Proposition 8, a voter-initiated amendment to the California Constitution providing that "[o]nly marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California." Appellants submit that this case raises numerous momentous issues, both legal and factual, of overriding importance not only to the parties, but to the People of California and to the Nation at large. Appellants respectfully submit that a 75-page motion is warranted to address these matters fairly and efficiently. - 1 - I declare, under penalty of perjury under the laws of the United States' that is executed this 12th day these facts are true and correct and that this Declaration of August 2010 in Cincinnati, Ohio' @ Peter A.
