MC 11-319 ABC ORDER OF SUSPENSION 16 17 18 19 On June 8, 2011, Jan M. Heger, an attorney previously admitted to 20 the bar of this Court, was convicted in this Court of making a false 21 statement on a passport application and of using a passport secured by 22 a false statement in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 1542. 23 v. Heger, No. SA CR 11-0019-JST (C.D. Cal. 2011), Dkt. # 58. 24 Violation of 18 U.S.C. § 1542 is a felony. 25 3559(a). 26 See United States See 18 U.S.C. §§ 1542, The local rules of the Central District provide that “[u]pon the 27 filing of a judgment or conviction demonstrating that any attorney 28 admitted to practice before this Court has been convicted in this 1 Court of any serious crime as herein defined,” the Court shall enter 2 an order immediately suspending that attorney from the Court’s bar. 3 See Local Rule 83-3.2.1. 4 The local rules define a “serious crime” as “any felony and any 5 lesser crime a necessary element of which, as determined by the 6 statutory or common law definition of such crime in the jurisdiction 7 in which it was entered, involves false swearing, misrepresentation, 8 fraud, deceit, bribery, extortion, misappropriation, theft, or the use 9 of dishonesty, or an attempt, conspiracy, or solicitation of another 10 to commit a ‘serious crime.’” 11 Id. Because he has been convicted in this Court of a “serious crime,” 12 IT IS THEREFORE ORDERED that Jan M.
