Defense counsel updates the Court on the progress in and current s ta tu s of settlement in the following two paragraphs. S e ttle m e n t of a case of this kind requires coordination among the three governmental o f f ic e s with authority: the office of the Regional Director of the Fish and Wildlife Service, in S a c ra m e n to , the office of the Solicitor of the Interior, in Washington, D.C., and the United S ta te s Attorney's Office. These three offices have made substantial progress in February and M a rc h . T h e undersigned AUSA is out of state on business March 6 to March 15, returning M a rc h 16. He expects to discuss the government's position with agency counsel during the
