Erica P. Grosjean U.S. Magistrate Judge 25 26 27 28 CASE NO. 1:17-CV-01059-LJO-EPG JOINT STATUS CONFERENCE STATEMENT AND STIPULATION TO CONTINUE STATUS CONFERENCE; [PROPOSED] ORDER 1 Plaintiff United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (“Plaintiff” or 2 “Commission”) and Defendant Pacific Bell Telephone Company (“Defendant”) (collectively, the 3 “Parties”), by and through their respective counsel of record, hereby submit this Joint Status 4 Conference Statement to notify the Court that the Parties have been diligently engaged in 5 extensive settlement discussions to resolve this matter and are extremely close to reaching a final 6 agreement, subject to appropriate internal approvals by the Parties and the submission of a 7 Proposed Consent Decree for approval by the Court. 8 9 Accordingly, the Parties stipulate and request that the Mid-Discovery Status Conference currently scheduled for May 24, 2018, be continued for at least thirty (30) days. The Parties 10 currently believe that they will be able to finalize and file their Proposed Consent Decree with the 11 Court on or about Monday, June 25, 2018. The Parties submit that there is good cause for this 12 continuance because, among other reasons, the Parties have agreed to extensive injunctive relief 13 that must be included in the Proposed Consent Decree, which requires time to obtain multiple 14 levels of approval required by both Parties. Good cause also exists in order to avoid unnecessary 15 expenditure of Court resources to conduct the Status Conference where this case is in the final 16 stage of settlement negotiations. 17 18 DATED: May 16, 2018 19 20 ANNA Y.
