Petitioner Alfred R. Sosa, a state prisoner proceeding pro se, initiated this action by filing

19

a petition for writ of habeas corpus under 28 U.S.C. § 2254 on July 3, 2021. (Doc. No. 5). The

20

case was transferred to this District from the Northern District of California on July 15, 2021.

21

(Doc. No. 14). Along with his petition, Petitioner moved for a stay and abeyance of the case so

22

that he may exhaust his state court remedies. (Doc. No. 8). The Court will afford Respondent an

23

opportunity to respond, prior to ruling on Petitioner’s motion to stay.

Accordingly, it is ORDERED:

1. The Clerk of Court is directed to serve this order on the state attorney general or the

26

state attorney general’s representative.

2. Within twenty-one (21) days of the date of this order, Respondent shall file a response
