Petitioner is a state prisoner, proceeding pro se, with an application for writ of habeas
18
corpus pursuant to 28 U.S.C. § 2254. On May 3, 2019, respondent filed a motion to dismiss
19
petitioner’s amended petition. On June 5, 2019, petitioner was granted an extension of time, up
20
to and including July 15, 2019, in which to file an opposition, and was cautioned that failure to

file a timely opposition may result in the dismissal of this action. (ECF No. 34.) That deadline
22
has now passed, and petitioner has not filed an opposition to the motion.
Local Rule 230(l) provides in part: “Failure of the responding party to file written
