1 2 3 4 UNITED STATES DISTRICT COURT 5 NORTHERN DISTRICT OF CALIFORNIA 6 7 JAMES ELLIS JOHNSON, Case No. 13-cv-02405-JD Plaintiff, 8 v. ORDER 9 10 UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, Re: Dkt. No. 254 Defendant. United States District Court Northern District of California 11 12 13 For defendant’s motion to extend expert discovery, the deadline to oppose the 14 administrative request to shorten time has passed, and no objection has been filed. Civ. L.R. 7- 15 11(b). The Court grants the request to shorten time. Under Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 16, 16 modification of the case schedule requires only “good cause” and “the judge’s consent.” 17 Defendant has demonstrated good cause for its request to extend the expert discovery period in 18 order to depose P. Suzanne Maska, M.D. on March 15, 2016. The Court extends the expert 19 discovery period for this limited purpose. The Court denies defendant’s request to depose 20 additional witnesses who may be disclosed in the future as too speculative. 21 22 IT IS SO ORDERED. Dated: March 9, 2016 23 24 25 26 27 28 ________________________ JAMES DONATO United States District Judge
