On December 17,2012, prose Plaintiffs Zachary Johnson and Russell Keith Hill, prisoners incarcerated at South Mississippi Correctional Institution, filed the instant action pursuant to 42 U.S.C. § 1983. (See Compl. (Dkt. I}.) Johnson has moved to proceed in forma pauperis pursuant to 28 U.S.C. § 1915. 1 (Dkt. 3.) For the reasons set forth below, the court orders that this matter be 1 The court notes that Hill is barred from proceeding in forma pauperis by the so-called "three-strikes provision" of the Prison Litigation Reform Act, codified at 28 U.S.C. § 1915(g). The individual defendants reside in Washington, D.C.; Jackson, Mississippi; Hattiesburg, Mississippi; New Orleans, Louisiana; Houston, Texas; and Austin, Texas. (See Compl.) None of Defendants resides in the Eastern District ofNew York. The crux of Plaintiffs' claims relate to events that are alleged to have occurred in Washington, D.C. (See Compl. at 3.) Therefore, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York is not the appropriate venue in which to file this action. See 28 U.S.C. § 139l(b). !fan action is filed in the wrong district court, a court "shall dismiss, or if it be in the interest of justice, transfer such case to any district or division in which it could have been brought." 28 U.S.C. § 1406(a). Accordingly, in the interest of justice, the Clerk of Court is hereby directed to transfer this case to the United States District Court for the District of Columbia. See 28 U.S.C. §§ 88, 1406(a).
