Thompson v. The Florida Bar Doc. 291 John B. Thompson, Attorney at Law 1172 S. Dixie Hwy., Suite 111 Coral Gables, Florida 33146 305-666-4366 amendmentone@comcast.net October 30, 2007 The Honorable Alex Acosta U.S. Attorney Miami, Florida Via Fax to 305-530-7679 Jeff Sloman Assistant U.S. Attorney Miami, Florida Via Fax and e-mail to Jeff.Sloman@usdoj.gov Re: Alleged Criminal Acts by Blank Rome Attorney, Rebecca Ward, and Others Gentlemen: This morning I received the below e-mail from Rebecca Ward, a partner at Blank Rome in Philadelphia, who represents the makers of the Grand Theft Auto and Manhunt video games: ----- Original Message ----From: Ward, Rebecca To: Jack Thompson Cc: Camerik, Howard M. Sent: Tuesday, October 30, 2007 8:25 AM Subject: FW: Mr. Thompson, We will not revisit your false claims regarding age verification. In regards to your other statement, you appear to be claiming that a content descriptor of "strong sexual content" -- which appears on numerous games -- triggers liability under statutes barring a criminal distribution of materials to minors. As you are an attorney, you know that the standard to trigger such laws is extremely high and likely impossible for an M rated video game. Any claims that this material -which you have not even seen -- is actionable under civil or criminal law may violate state laws regarding business libel, as well as your settlement agreement with our client. If you make any such claims publicly -- including any additional correspondence with the press -- our client may be forced to take action against you. Dockets.Justia.com I believe this e-mail clearly constitutes a violation of various criminal statutes pertaining to extortion, federal civil rights laws (18 USC 241, 242) and RICO. In the latter regard, please note that Ms. Ward's communication has gone across state lines. The FBI commenced a criminal civil rights investigation of Blank Rome and other with whom they have collaborated many months ago, and it was improperly dropped. This investigation must now be reopened and expanded. I now have sworn testimony from an Alabama judge that proves that certain Bar complaints brought against me by Blank Rome, in order to protect their client's various illegal activities, are fraudulent. The federal government has repeatedly found this company to have violated various laws. I am not going to put up anymore with Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc's and Blank Rome's use of extortionate SLAPP Bar complaints, perjury, threats orchestrated against my wife and me at our home, and now criminal threats to go after me if I dare inform others of possible wrongdoing by Take-Two. Such threats are intended to infringe upon my First Amendment rights and protect Take-Two's illegal corporate acts. Take-Two is a company condemned by the US House of Representatives by a vote of 355-21 for embedding interactive sex scenes in the Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas game. What's Take-Two going to do, also threaten Senator Hillary Clinton for going public in July 2005 with the evidence that I personally gave her, which her staff requested, which then led to the above-noted House Resolution? I want the investigation of Blank Rome, Take-Two, and The Florida Bar re-opened today. This criminal crap by these organizations has gone on long enough, and I'm not going to put up with it or your office's dereliction in this regard any further. Regards, Jack Thompson Attachment: Letter to All Twenty Florida State Attorneys Filing in U.S. District Court Case 07-21256, Southern District of Florida 2
