NOTICE OF COMPLIANCE
WITH COURT ORDERS

Plaintiffs give the following notice of compliance with this Court’s orders:
On July 22, 2013, this Court ordered that Defendants not accept a death certificate for
Plaintiff John Arthur that failed recognize his marriage or list Plaintiff Jim Obergefell as his
surviving spouse. (Temporary Restraining Order, Doc. 14, extended in Docs. 16 and 19.)
As shown by Exhibit A, attached hereto, Mr. Arthur’s death certificate was filed on
October 25, 2013, correctly recognizing his marriage and identifying Mr. Obergefell as his
surviving spouse. This Ohio Department of Health Certificate of Death is assigned Registrar’s
No. 2013003420.
Similarly, on September 3, 2013, this Court ordered that Defendants not accept a death
certificate for William Herbert Ives that failed recognize his marriage or list Plaintiff David
Michener as his surviving spouse. (Temporary Restraining Order, Doc. 23.)
As shown by Exhibit B, attached hereto, Mr. Ives’s death certificate was filed on
September 5, 2013, correctly recognizing his marriage and identifying Mr. Michener as his

surviving spouse. This Ohio Department of Health Certificate of Death is assigned Registrar’s
No. 2013002803.
Plaintiffs continue to seek a permanent injunction to prevent any amendments and further
relief.
