MCAVOY, CLERK 4 5 UNITED STATES DISTRICT COURT 6 EASTERN DISTRICT OF WASHINGTON 7 8 KENNETH KLUTH and STEPHEN No. 1:17-cv-03149-SAB 9 SCHENK, 10 Plaintiffs, 11 v. ORDER DENYING 12 SANTANDER CONSUMER USA INC., STIPULATED MOTION FOR 13 and AUTO TRACKERS AND PROTECTIVE ORDER 14 RECOVERY NORTH, LLC, 15 Defendants. 16 17 Before the Court is Defendant Santander Consumer USA Inc’s Motion for 18 Entry of Stipulated Protective order, ECF No. 37. The motion was heard without 19 oral argument. 20 The parties jointly move the Court to sign and enter a Protective Order that 21 was drafted and agreed to by the parties. It is this Court’s practice to not enter 22 general Protective Orders that simply set forth the parties’ agreement for handling 23 “confidential” materials. 24 The parties are free to contract between themselves regarding disclosure of 25 information produced in discovery, and pursue appropriate remedies in the event of 26 breach; however, the Court will not be party to such an agreement. If, in the future, 27 the parties wish to file specific items of discovery in the court record and protect 28 such items from public access, the Court will entertain an application for a ORDER DENYING STIPULATED MOTION FOR PROTECTIVE ORDER ~ 1 1 narrowly tailored protective order. 2 Accordingly, IT IS HEREBY ORDERED: 3 1. The Defendant Santander Consumer USA Inc’s Motion for Entry of 4 Stipulated Protective order, ECF No. 37, is DENIED. 5 IT IS SO ORDERED. The District Court Executive is hereby directed to 6 file this Order and provide copies to counsel. 7 DATED this 18th day of May 2018. 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 Stanley A.
