EXHIBIT 1 9/26/2017 New Organization Interest Form - Fall 2017 What is your statement of purpose? * A purpose statement (or mission statement) de nes what what your organization wants to accomplish. We are the Young Americans for Liberty. We recognize the natural rights of life, liberty, and property set forth by our Founding Fathers. Our country was created to protect the freedoms of the individual and be directed by We the People. We recognize that freedom requires responsibility, and therefore we hold ourselves to a high standard of character and conduct. Integrity motivates our action. Principle de nes our outlook towards government. Peace and prosperity drive our ambitions towards our countrymen. We inherit a corrupt, coercive world that has lost respect for voluntary action. Our government has failed and dragged our country into moral decay. The political class dominates the agenda with a violent, callous, controlling grip. For this we do not stand. We welcome limited government conservatives, classical liberals, and libertarians who trust in the creed we set forth. WE, as Young Americans for Liberty believe: that government is the negation of liberty; that voluntary action is the only ethical behavior; that respect for the individual s property is fundamental to a peaceful society; that violent action is only warranted in defense of one s property; that the individual owns his/her body and is therefore responsible for his/her actions; that society is a responsibility of the people, not the government. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/17EHBG7uk2XEasfy7-WR8F2xknJcgUq-H75Jz8uwTaJ8/edit#response=ACYDBNhQKtLWq23yKgclI2MjEEw5cbSNuL6XxhxxH… 3/6 9/26/2017 New Organization Interest Form - Fall 2017 What is your statement of uniqueness? * Your organization’s uniqueness statement provides the LEAD Center additional details about your organization beyond what you have stated in your statement of purpose. This is an opportunity to clarify how your proposed organization is different from other existing student organizations at UC Berkeley and how your group will have a positive impact on the university community. Our organization will be building the base for libertarian ideals at Berkeley as the libertarian presence has faded away on campus over the past few years. We believe our mission will be coming at a crucial time as our campus witnesses a clash of ideologies with fewer organizations standing up for personal liberties and freedom of speech while maintaining a "centrist" or classic liberal position. How will you ensure your organization will carry out university related policies? * Policies of the university include: Berkeley Campus Regulations, The Code of Student Conduct, Nondiscrimination Policies, Policy on Sexual Harassment and Sexual Violence, Statement on Hazing (Matt’s Law), Policy on Alcohol and Tobacco on Campus, The Dance Policy, Time, Place, and Manner on Campus, Campus Online Activities Policy, Policy of Use of University Names, Seals, and Trademarks We would have a presentation on these policies forbour leadership team and establish of communication with the adminstration to review the actions of any members who break such rules during club events or activities. Browse the LEAD Center’s Funding Guide and list at least one funding source that could support your organization’s needs, when you should apply, and how it could support your organization. If you don’t see a funding source that you’re interested in, describe a funding-related tool, revenue opportunity, or outside sponsor your organization can access. * An outside sponsor would the actual YAL National organization as well ad the local networks the organization helps us set up. These networks, such as "Bay Area Liberty", for example, would work together in o cial fundraising events to help nance any events, previous ideas included local bake sales in 12+ schools to fund different speakers https://docs.google.com/forms/d/17EHBG7uk2XEasfy7-WR8F2xknJcgUq-H75Jz8uwTaJ8/edit#response=ACYDBNhQKtLWq23yKgclI2MjEEw5cbSNuL6XxhxxH… 4/6 9/26/2017 New Organization Interest Form - Fall 2017 What types of spaces will your organization need? How will you go about securing spaces for your organization? * We mainly need lecture halls for invited speakers, not much needed in terms of socials etc. As for the process of securing these places, we are still unsure about the o cial procedures and would like to inquire further about them from the LEAD center How does your organization plan on developing innovative ideas? * While we have some events that all our national chapters do, our leadership team here at Berkeley realizes the importance of our campus in America s political clkmate and would like to include this unique campus culture into our events, as a result one of the ideas we came up with was a "Politicon" styled week of debates sponsored by the Libertarian clubs on campus while also hosting other left-left-leaning or right-leaning political clubs to create a dialogue between the increasingly polarized ends of the political spectrum How does your organization plan on creating a welcoming environment? * As one of the main tenants of our organization, we strongly believe in respecting people from different ideological background and providing a space for dialogue. To do that, we train our recruitment and leadership teams on how to approach individuals and conduct club events so that everyone can feel welcomed. What are the ways your organization will provide social and educational opportunities to your members and the community? * Other than inviting local libertarian speakers to education the community on the ideals our club strives to promote, we would be working closely with other national libertarian-leaning national organizations that hold workshops and events for youth education and skill development like the Leadership Institute, who provide YAL members with scholarships to send members to these workshops as part of the two organizations relationship https://docs.google.com/forms/d/17EHBG7uk2XEasfy7-WR8F2xknJcgUq-H75Jz8uwTaJ8/edit#response=ACYDBNhQKtLWq23yKgclI2MjEEw5cbSNuL6XxhxxH… 5/6 9/26/2017 New Organization Interest Form - Fall 2017 Please check out Callink's 'Organizations Directory' and search keywords that resemble your proposed organization. Are there any organizations that are similar to yours that you didn't know existed? * Not listing an organization that is similar to your own can result in your organization not being able to become an RSO. You can nd a list of active RSO s at: https://callink.berkeley.edu/organizations Yes No If yes, please list the organization(s). * Cal Libertarians (their presence on campus has dwindled though) This form was created inside of UC Berkeley.  Forms https://docs.google.com/forms/d/17EHBG7uk2XEasfy7-WR8F2xknJcgUq-H75Jz8uwTaJ8/edit#response=ACYDBNhQKtLWq23yKgclI2MjEEw5cbSNuL6XxhxxH… 6/6
