The ruling by U.S. District j u d g e J a n DuBois o n Friday has been expected. It's similar to a t e m p o r a r y injunction the j u d g e i m p o s e d in February a f t e r a stUdent sued t h e d i s t n c t o v e r p n v a c y c o n c e r n s . The L o w e r Merion SChool District acknowledges capturing 56.000 screen shots and w e b c a m i m a g e s so it could l o c a t e missing laptops. The n e w ruling says L o w e r Merion can use o t h e r kinds o f technology to find laptops but o n l y i f parents a n d students a g r e e to it. The o r d e r also requires school officials to anrange for the n e a n y 40 high school students whO were u n k n o w i n g l y photographed Oy their laptops to see the images, as well as their parents.
