This testing is performed in order to identify those newborns with potential to demonstrte symptoms of drg withdrawal and to requie special observation and treatment. Any newborn of a mother with a positive ure drg screen wil have a Finegan's scorig initiated (see attched). Procedure: 1. The nurse or the unt secreta will order a urne drg screen (UDS) in the Invision system STAT. 2. The nurse will collect the urne specimen, label it and send it to the lab. 3. If the UDS is positive the lab will send the specimen for confrmatoiy testing. The nurse wil log the positive test in the DruS! Test LoS! Book. Jameson Hospita the positive UDS. The lab will notify the maternty care center when they receive the results of the confrmatoiy tests. This information wil be recorded in the DroS! TestinS! LoS! Book by the social service deparent will be notified of maternty sta 4. If the confrmatoiy is positive, the MCC stafwill notify Jameson Hospital social service deparent. Social service will then notify Children and Youth Services of the positive confirmatorv test results. 5. Social service will notify CYS prior to the receipt of the confrmatoiy result if the followig is present: 1. Prenata histoiy indicating prior drg use or children in foster care. 2. Positive urne drg screen at any time in the pregnancy. '-, 3. Physician suspect -ie signs and symptoms upon admssion, known methadone patient. 4. Unusua patient behavior 6. Any positive drg screen of 5. Noncompliant prenatal care. the OB patient will be communicated to the OB and Pediatric physicians. 7. A Finnegan's scorig assessment will be initiated on the infant based on the positive urne drg screen. 8. If the OB patient's UDS is positive the nurse or the unt secreta will order a ure and meconium drg test on the newborn. the positive newborn test will be communcated to the pediatrcian. 9.
