It may then be decompressed and downloaded onto a removable storage medium i n e i t h e r analog o r d i g i t a l format. A l t e r n a t i v e l y , i t may be t r a n s m i t t e d over a b u r s t t i m e p e r i o d t o a second remotely l o c a t e d t r a n s c e i v e r v i a any of a number of t r a n s m i s s i o n mediums. Typically,,a 2-hour r e a l t i m e audio/video program can be so t r a n s m i t t e d over a b u r s t t i m e p e r i o d o f o n l y 5-30 seconds. a r e s u l t , a user o f t h e t r a n s c e i v e r o f t h e present i n v e n t i o n may, f o r example, s e l e c t an audio/video program f o r h i s evening's viewing entertainment from a remotely l o c a t e d audio/video l i b r a r y . As The s e l e c t e d program i s t'nen t r a n s m i t t e d t o t h e u s e r ' s t r a n s c e i v e r over t h e b u r s t t i m e p e r i o d o f 5-30 seconds, where i t i s s t o r e d i n t i m e compressed d i g i t a l format i n t h e random access storage o f h i s transceiver. The t r a n s c e i v e r i s then o p e r a t i v e f o r decompressing t h e program so received and s t o r e d i n t o e i t h e r an analog o r d i g i t a l format f o r d i r e c t viewing by t h e user.
