Linda Balderson I read Janine Adams blog and was curious about
Zotero. This sent me to your blog to try to learn more. I am looking
forward to your book, because I am struggling to find a way to keep
track of my research. If I can figure out how to use it, I think Zotero
may be the tool will use. How soon will the book be available?

The Golden Egg Genealogist Thanks, Linda. Zotero
doesn't do EE format, but does Chicago Manual of Style, on
which EE is based. I will do a section in the book on how I
store data in Zotero for later use in EE. Zotero becomes BIG

The Golden Egg Genealogist Certainly a solid product.
Without Ancestry syncing it's off the table for me, but it has
a very loyal base of users, which says a lot.

Shiela Trantham-Garland Is this the personal tree that is installed
on your personal computer or the ancestry online family tree?

View 1 more reply
The Golden Egg Genealogist Right. Your tree can still be
private, but this gives you access to it wherever you go, an
off-site backup, and easy access to the resources of
Ancestry, as you build your tree. I love having both available,
because some things are more easily handled in Ancestry
and some more easily in the desktop software. The sync
technology then brings both sides up to date.

Jason Cole Keep in mind that this is not a true sync, but a share.
Every change you make, even just a name change, will require a
minimum of 6 keystrokes/clicks. So if you change a family line of
100 people from "Cole" to "Coles", you will have a minimum of 600

The Golden Egg Genealogist GREAT NEWS! When Ancestry
removed the corrupted tree, I was able to sync with RootsMagic for
the first time. And the testing begins. . . .

The Golden Egg Genealogist I much prefer the sync in
FTM. I've got to ask myself now if RM has enough other bells
& whistles to make me willing to sync a fact at a time.

more family members you test, the clearer your genetic genealogy becomes.

The Golden Egg Genealogist Minor bugs are indeed to be
expected. This is a complete failure to operate,

The Golden Egg Genealogist I'm hearing a theory about why it's
not working that makes sense. A TON of us all start trying RM7.5 at
the same time, all trying to upload or download huge trees to
Ancestry. We might be crashing Ancestry. Maybe we'll see a better
result when the hubbub subsides.
