The right to a jury trial is an important protection enjoyed in the United States. The preservation of this right depends upon the cooperation of qualified jurors in serving on juries and acting as judges of the facts. The presentation of evidence in this case is expected to take about eight days over the next three weeks, and arguments and jury deliberations are likely to cause jury services to extend through the third week. The schedule that we expect to keep over the days of evidence presentation will usually include two breaks of fifteen minutes. We will not conduct trial on Friday, unless you are in deliberations. The trial schedule has been designed with half-day sessions to allow you and the court to have time to attend to other business and personal matters each day during the trial.
