I, Brian Hart, declare as follows: I am a citizen of the United States and a resident of the State of California. I am a member of the Independent Investigations Group, the Center for Inquiry, and the James Randi Educational Foundation. I consider myself a humanist. I have watched all of the Presidential inaugurations since 1964 on television. I watched the 2009 inauguration of Barack Obama live on CNN on January 20, 2009. As I watched this inauguration, I was very upset to hear the phrase, "so help you god" spoken by Chief Justice Roberts. There is no mention of god in the US Constitution because I believe the founding fathers deliberately left out ANY mention of religion. Being 53 years old, I expect to witness several more future inaugurations during my lifetime. I declare under penalty of perjury that the foregoing is true and correct. Executed on February 19, 2009.

I, Walter G. Hecker, declare as follows: 1. I am a citizen of the United States and a resident of the State of California. 2. I am a member of the Freedom From Religion Foundation, the American Humanist Association and the Atheists of Silicon Valley. 3. I consider myself a secular humanist. 4. I have watched the inaugurations of 1989 and 2005 on television at my home. 5. I watched the 2009 inauguration of Barack Obama live on television at my home, and later on the Internet. 6. As I watched this inauguration, I was appalled that again a justice of the Supreme Court, who in his capacity should certainly know better, appended religious wording to the oath, thus deviating from the constitutionally mandated wording which is purposefully strictly non-religious. Breaking word and spirit of the constitution in the in the act of promising to uphold it struck me as extremely troublesome. It made me wish that my children and grandchildren would never have to hear such farce. I also object strongly to the governmental endorsement of religion by including, at other places, religious mumbo-jumbo in the inaugural proceedings, which, as an act of government, is constitutionally prescribed to be free of such endorsement. 7. Being 65 years old, I expect to witness several future inaugurations during my lifetime. I declare under penalty of perjury that the foregoing is true and correct. Executed on February 22nd, 2009.

I, Jill L. Humston, declare as follows: I am a citizen of the United States and a resident of the State of Iowa. I am a member of the Iowa Secularists and was elected to serve on the Board of Directors. I am also the Secretary. I am on the Board of Directors for Camp Quest of Minnesota, a secular summer camp designed for children of Unitarians, atheists, agnostics, freethinkers, humanists, or whatever terms might be applied to those who maintain a naturalistic, not supernaturalistic, world view. I am also a member of the Freedom From Religion Foundation. I consider myself an atheist and a secular humanist. I have been a voting member of society since 1998. I watched the inauguration in 2001 from my dorm room during college and in 2005 with friends while in graduate school working towards my Ph.D. I watched the 2009 inauguration of Barack Obama live on the Internet from my office. As I watched this inauguration, I was inspired for many reasons. However, I couldn't help but feel alienated by the inundation of prayers and invocations included in inaugural events. The addition of "so help me God" to the presidential oath lead by Chief Justice Roberts was also unsettling to a non-religious American. Being 28 years old, I expect and hope to witness 12 future inaugurations during my lifetime. I declare under penalty of perjury that the foregoing is true and correct. Executed on February 19, 2009.
