ANNEX 2 RODNEY CARLISLE, PH. D. Tuesday 20th of November Dear Sir, I was counting on going to the house of m. this evening, but this was impossible because of a strong rain shower and for the lack of a coach. As I will most certainly leave for Portsmouth tomorrow, I hope that m. will continue to treat with the same zeal that so far everyone from the detained frigates of the King will be provided with all comforts and assistance to which, because of their situation, they are entitled. M. will request without fail that the processed silver that was in the cabin of the frigate and that was brought from Mr. Ugarte be paid out to the General, applying all due diligence to it in Customs or otherwise [Illegible], and to be informed of the results to see if it is convenient to take steps in London for the same purpose, [Illegible] can be done with total knowledge of the case. It is however necessary that, before my return to the same Capital, to the same purpose, someone goes [Illegible] or writes to Mr. Fermin de Fastet on my behalf who will do so with great efficiency. I also recommend the care and attention [Illegible] for the naval lieutenant, the only official of the Mercedes Frigate that has been ill-treated, since he has requested me to do so, although I have seen that m. has supplied him with all relief and comfort that can be expected in such a situation. Finally I hope that [Illegible] to the Spanish merchant ships that have been captured and it has been attempted that all captains make a formal declaration that I turned over to m. yesterday which must be duplicated, and sent to me in London, observing the same method for all that have been captured. And to avoid loss of time I will inform Mr. Fermin de Fastet in my claim of all their details, and of how many can be successively obtained, [Illegible] for all [Illegible] to me. I value the attention you have granted me, and may God [Illegible] me on the 20th of November of 1805.
