September 17,2008 Dear Henry: On August 6, I forwarded to you a proposed new three-year contract for Catherine Herridge that, among other things, increased her current annual $460,000 salary to $495,000 in year 1, to $530,000 in year 2, and to $570,000 in year 3, On August 15, you responded on Catherine's behalf and proposed a five-year contract and, notwithstanding that she currently is the highest-paid reporter in the D.C. Bureau, you asked lor a 35o/o increase in her salary in year 1 to $621,0 00, a l5Yo raise in yeat 2 to $714,150, another 75Yo increase in year 3 to $82I,272, a !0o/o increase inyear 4 to $903,399, and another 70Yo jncrease in year 5 to g993,739. On August 22,I responded to you, stating that although Fox News might offer Catherine somewhat more in terms of her annual salary, it was not prepared to offer her anything close to a35o/o raise in year 1 of the contract. On September 12,I received your latest e-mail. Instead of lowering your proposal concerning Catherine's annual salary, you raised it to $900,000 in year l, a 95Yo increase over her current salary and a $279,000 increase over your initial August 15 proposal. You also proposed a$l million salary for catherine in year 5 of the contract. I do not consider your latest proposal to be helpful. If you wish to have a serious negotiation about Catherine's employment, I suggest that you and she become more realistic,
